Besides, there is a problem of heathenish differences which necessitates introduction of multicultural tolerance among the engineers.Another critical issue is increasing trend of common language adoption by engineering firms. This lead to extrusion of non-native speakers in decision making sessions with significant isola tion of local community interests while executing construction projects (Reader, 2006). I also believe that communication skills take up evidently been overlooked while training mechanical engineers. Apart from the course specific report writing, concepts of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills have significantly showed poor results among several Engineers. This present even a greater performance challenge both locally and internationally as this group of professionals strive to reconcile formal work procedures and fundamental interaction with the society from the social aspect. It is imperative that drastic measures are taken to initiate reforms on ethical codes and general mechanical engineering work policies. This should be through with(p) with the globalization view to capture the divergent skills and cultural affiliation of various

Phase 2 Discussion Board Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1

Phase 2 Discussion Board - Assignment ExampleTherefore, the demand is inelastic, gist that a change in price would not significantly affect the bill demanded. When elasticity of demand is referred to as unitary, this means it equals one and as such, any change in price ordain have an equal impact on quantity demanded. Price elasticity of demand (PED) refers to change in quantity demanded due to percentage change in price. The value of price elasticity is similar at all points along the demand horizontal curve. The same case applies to price inelastic demand (PID) which is represented by a vertical line.According to Gupta (2008), PED is defined as a measure of responsiveness of quantity demanded to changes in price. Demand is said to be elastic when PED is greater than one. Further, this indicates that consumers are very sensitive to changes in price. One percentage change in price will lead to a drop in quantity demanded by more than one percentage. Similarly, when PED is less t han one, it is interpreted that consumers are insensitive to price changes and any development in price will cause a decline in quantity demanded by less than one percentage. Ideally, the effect of price increase has a significant effect on Autoedge total revenue. As such, PED becomes paramount for the company as it seeks to maximize revenues. In this regard, if Autoedge finds its PED to be relatively inelastic, it may decide to ski tow prices since the auto parts would be sold at high prices without adversely affecting sales. Similarly, if Autoedge finds its PED to be inelastic, it may choose to lower prices in order to enable the business increase the number of units sold and hence revenue without necessarily losing customers. It is worth noting that when demand is perfectly elastic as represented by a horizontal curve, any increase in price leads to zero units demanded. On the other hand, if the demand is found to be perfectly

Should animal be used for scientific experiment Research Paper

Should animal be used for scientific experiment - Research Paper ExampleNevertheless, to describe tortures of animals in laboratories is rather compound it is much easier just to imagine it. Experiments on non-human creatures started long time ago and were nonable among mevery famous scientists. However, lately a query about correctness of such tests has aroused considerably. Dispute on the efficiency and appropriateness of animal experiments continues to stay rather controversial. There are a large number of antithetical organizations such as The International Association against Painful Experiments on Animals, The Human Society of the United States or British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, which propagandize refusal of any tests on animals and condemn those companies that do not go along with them. In the list of the firms that still haunt rats, mice, rabbits, cats, monkeys and other creatures for trying out their output you peck find so world-known brands as Dove, Sun silk, Rexona, Timotei, Axe, Speed Stick, Colgate, Max Factor, Pantene, Braun, Ariel, LOreal Paris, Lancome, Maybelline, Vichy, Givenchy, Kenzo, leenex et cetera. There is the biggest laboratory in Europe named Huntingdon Life Sciences that specializes on testing chemicals. Every year millions of aboveboard and harmless animals die for the sake of scientific research. It is quite understandable if people use animals to create medicine from AIDS or cancer, for example. Then you can considerably say that these scientists serve for saving people from dreadful diseases and deaths. But when poor animals are tormented by painful effects of cosmetics testers then a marvel about reasonability of the mentioned deeds becomes sharp extremely. Animals are compelled to sacrifice themselves loosing their lives and stipulations of normal existence for making people satisfied with a new detergent or darkness cream, for instance. In this respect, there are several aspects and arguments that suppo rt the idea of animal experiments prohibition. They are the following Killing animals for experimentations is ethically wrong, because it displays cruelty and callousness of human temperament Animals have their rights that should be respected and protected by people Carried out researches often do not give required results, that is why they do not worth all expenses and losses. Therefore the main goal of humanity is to decide whether it is more relevant to continue experimentation or fight against it. The solution of that business can be considered essential, because it refers to the lives of not only people but non-human animals also. According to Monamy (2009), today every student and researcher involved in animal experimentation should consider a number of ethical questions (Monamy, 2009, p.37). A man is the most powerful entity on the planet. That is why his major task is protection of plants and animals that are not able to take care of themselves for saving and passing on t his world to the future generations. However, making experiments on helpless animals, people cut, burn, and drown their bodies, feed them with chemicals and drugs that puzzle out on health and comfort dangerously. Moreover, to be able to observe animals reaction often researchers damage skin of the creature deliberately and lube it with experimental substance, or treat animals eyes with a new drops that in the result causes blindness of the poor animal. Sometimes for testing

Primary and Secondary Education in Wales and England Essay

Primary and Secondary Education in Wales and England - Essay ExampleIn fact, British started the introductory educational institutions of most of the countries with the network of their missionaries, which has helped in the spread of English as a world language. However, the scope of this essay is restricted to the social, economic and political factors that nurse influenced the changes to Primary and Secondary Education in Wales and England since 1944.1944 was a landmark year in the history of the education system in Wales and England. The education act of 1944(also cognise as Butler Act, named aft(prenominal) Rab Butler who formulated the act) completely changed the existing scenario of the Primary and the Secondary education system. It placed the education system under Ministry of Education, which still was nonexistent and increased the role of the minister to include promotion of education in England and Wales. The act made Education free but compulsory. It raised the tame leaving age to 15 suggested free milk, transport, and regular medical check ups for all the students. The entire Voluntary Schools most of which were owned by the churches were converted to, any aided, or controlled. To advice the minister on the matters connected with education two Central Advisory Councils for Education, one for England and one for Wales were established. Although it maintained that Religious Education was a statutory urgency, it gave the parents a free hand to decide their childrens participation in it. It made the appointment of a Chief Education Officer a mandatory requirement for every LEA and divided the responsibility of management of education between the central government, the LEAs and Institution governing bodies. The government did not get involved in the process of making the curriculum which was left to the institution governing bodies mainly head teacher. The 1994 education act was based on the reports of Hadow (1926), Spens (1938), and Norwood (19 43) all of which were suggestive of pigeonholing of children based on their intelligence through exams (Roy Lowe (ed), 2000). Hence, it introduced the Tripartite System of having Grammar Schools, Secondary Modern Schools, and the Secondary Technical Schools. Grammar school was for the most intelligent of the student lot, the Secondary Modern Schools for the prevalent majority and Secondary Technical Schools were for those with technical aptitude. The Labour party, which came into power with a huge majority after the Second World War, implemented most of the nutriment of the 1944 Education Act. Several sections of the act were deleted one by one in the later years through legislation and it was completely repealed by 1996 Education Act. still though Britain was occupied with mammoth restoration efforts after the Second World War, the government in power under the leadership of Clement Attlee was obsessed with the substructure of so called welfare State. Ellen Wilkinson the first Minister of Education post-war aggressively pursued her ambition of implementation of provisions of 1944 education act without much success. Some of the reports which were made after the 1944 education act recommended further changes in the education system. Percy report (1945) recommended inclusion of technical education in universities and Barlow Report (1946) recommended increase in number of seat for science students in universities. The first Clarke report (1947) School and life

An evaluation of the effectiveness of leadership professional development curriculum at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy - Dissertation ExampleGraduates from this institution f tout ensemble out within the field of maritime industry and serving effectively as mature and experienced leaders in the Armed Forces or reserve accredited officers. The education system is provided in time period of four years. The Program The location of the Academy is Kings Point in New York. The operation of the Academy is facilitated by the Maritime Administration of the Federal Government, which is a U.S. Department of Transportation agency. The program is carried out in four years, and uses a regimental system to ensure that midshipmen beat the necessary knowledge and skills, which would grant them an opportunity of earning ashore maritime employment, developing discipline in careers, serving in U.S. Armed Forces, and becoming successful leaders in troupe. The Regiment of the Academy has an approxima te value of 950 midshipmen who represent each Union state and U.S. Possessions and Trust Territories (Capt, 2006). The attained student body size enables the performance of an effective ratio between students and teachers. Further, this student size depicts the real camaraderie that exists in all Regiment members. Every profession in the current society is dependent in the quality of education, which is attained from colleges. U.S Merchant Marine Academy adopts the same and ensures that the quality of education provided in the college is sound. The faculty member program of the Academy ensures that all midshipmen receive specialized and quality teaching in order to become merchant marine officers, in U.S. who are licensed. This occurs since the academy adheres to the International Convention on Training Standards and Watch keeping for Seafarers and Certification (STCW) of 1978 including the related amendments to STCW Code (Catalog, 2011, p. 6). The accrediting of the Academys cur riculum is carried out by Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (Catalog, 2011, p. 6). This curriculum has the efficiency of ensuring that each midshipman receives the required college education necessary for the attainment of a bachelors degree in science. There are few colleges, which have the effectiveness to provide a wide range of credentials to their education graduates. Midshipmen who are enrolled in the Academy end up being challenged both physically and intellectually. This occurs since the academic program for the Academy is demanding and the regimental system is rigorous. Students find freshman year strenuous as they undergo a transition from being graduates of high drill to Academy midshipman (Kumar, 2008). The introduction of freshman year involves extensive learning of new terms, how to adopt effective means of time management, how to work while under pressure, and the survival of the fittest quality. Petroleum Economic and Oil field management 2013-2014 Essay

Petroleum Economic and Oil field management 2013-2014 - Essay ExampleSecondly, the indwelling gas industry requires a firm that has financial muscle to produce the innate(p) gas because it is an expensive venture. Such a firm will pass on excessive power to dominate control, and regulation initiatives flush from governments especially if it is a multinational company. The natural gas industry mainly operates through pipeline acid and distribution aspects, which are naturally monopolistic because they are characterized by high fixed be and long lead time making duplication uneconomical. This creates a wide barrier to entry for potential participants and competitors. They also require price and non-price regulation. Without effective regulation, the natural gas industry can develop into a natural monopoly. In fact, price regulations sometimes fail to control the prices because such prices depend on various factors such as production costs, inflation and transportation costs among others (DiLorenzo, 199645).In situations where governments run the natural gas industry, the industry turns to state monopoly such as in Mexico. The Mexican government introduced a program of reform in 1988. However, it was until 1995 that reform in natural gas industry began to include private companies. However, before this, state owned firms controlled the industry making it a monopoly. In fact, even after the entrance of private firms state owned firms still ruled the market making it a state monopoly (Joskow, 20071227).Q1 represents entire size of the market. Point E1 is the sense of balance that cooresponds to quantity at Q1 and determines the price at P1. Thus, when there is one firm only producing natural gas, the marginal cost of supply is P1 and is lower than the duopoly price P2. Thus, the battlefront of one firm in the market will be price efficient compared to two firms. If the natural gas industry

The live concert Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

The live concert - Essay ExampleI love going to the symphony due to the fact that the medicinal drug has more quality than any other type of live music I have ever attended. The magic Flute, Mozarts timeless comic opera house is all about young love which features some of the composers most wonderful music. Some critics argue that some parts of the show are very silly, but the fact is Mozart wrote really fun comic music thats filled with the infectious enthusiasm of two teenagers who are in love for the setoff time. The part I enjoyed most was when the magic flute was being played, because it was intense where the artist showed all his energy and passion in order to bring Pamina, a character in the comedy, to him in process charming even the wild animals to him. The Arizona symphony orchestra is a vital part of community resource that plays a role in uniting performers and audiences through their passion for music. Its also acknowledged through presenting world premieres, seldom p erformed treasures and classical gems. Founded in 1979, it holds an important come in in the world of symphonic music. Standardized Testing Essay Example for Free

Standardized interrogatory EssayStandardized testing is seen as the answering to amend public education in the united States. Students face district- and state- mandated tests as well as national angiotensin converting enzymes. However, standardized testing is not the answer to improving education. Teaching skills and learning environments both are in force(p) ways to improve education. Tests are only used to evaluate how well a teacher is doing, therefore pupils shouldnt have to take them. Giving answers to a lower place printing press without help or guidance, knowing no second chance will be given to pass is stressful (Mori, 139). Kids in todays generation are expected to understand so much more than they need to. According to No Child Left Behind (NCLB) in 2002 the linked States dropped from 18th in the world of math on the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) to 31st in 2009. A similar decrease was do in the science category but no change was made i n the reading assessment. Also research has been done by the National look Council to prove that standardized testing doesnt help the education. Standardized testing has also been claimed to be an unreliable source when it comes to determining the students performance.Long term changes arent even caused, only temporary changes in the students learning due to the studying for that specific test. After the test is out of the way children tend to forget the schooling. Testing brings out the anxiety in young students. The students often react to tests by vomiting, crying, or sometimes even both (http//standardizedtests.procon.org/). Tests that inflict so much pressure on one student cant possibly be helpful with improving education. Teaching skills play a major role in the improving of public education but, students can only learn as much as they are taught. Being handed a packet of information and be told to fill in the blanks is only going to show that the student can fill in the b lanks. Students need the information explained and repeated so they can mark it further on in their life. When teachers are enthusiastic close a certain subject they can catch the students attention. Teachers who talk all period and bore students causing their minds to wander. A few days later a test is in front of them and they have no clue what its about.Gettting students interested in different subjects will make them want to deed harder and do good on the tests. Also the teacher has to have a welcoming personality. If a student is interested inlearning about history but disagrees with the teachers ideas on teaching, the student may choose to purposely do bad on the tests so the teacher looks bad. Elementary school teachers keep the minds of children intersted in school by games and activites. Then as the child goes through middle school the teachers become slimly boring. No more pictures and diagrams or even a break in learning is used. Then high school is there in the blin k of an plaza and all fun is out of learning. Its all about colleges, good grades, and preparing for the future. Standardized tests cant help education improve if students arent worrying about current events in their life. Improvements in learning environments would help public education increase. From what children observe at a young age helps determine how they will be in life. To form a good learning environment both the psychologists and instructionalists perspectives are needed.People learn by experience, not by reading books and taking tests. For example, think about when going to get a job. The person needing a job will be taught by being shown what to do, how to react, and how things work (http//tecfa.unige.ch/tecfa/research/CMC/andrea95/node4.html). The people getting a new job dont learn by reading text then answering questions they learn by hands-on expierence (some places should offer IQ tests but unluckily they dont). Also heighly effective teaching and learning envi ronments should make the students feel safe and welcome. Classroom effort should be shown and the teacher should praise it. If students dont work with teachers to improve situations the information being taught will be forgotten.By showing the information is still remembered a few days later makes the teacher feel as if he/she is doing well so she will continue to do so. Improving public education shouldnt be just about standardized testing. Teacher, students, and parents all need to work together to encourage children to strive to do better. All of this information simply proves that tests show nothing more than teachers ability. The tests students are required to take such as state- and district- mandated tests shouldnt even be in the cirriculum. Information on each of these tests is from each marking period which means its forgotten by the time the nest one is ready.
