I felt overpowered by blood, guts and decease.Although my reaction hasnt changed much through numerous readings, myemotional feelings live more intense with each reading. This poemmakes me feel as if I am right there watching the soldier who cannotfasten his masque fast enough and suffers the full effects of deadlygas. but someone fluid is yelling out and stumbling. This poem alsomakes me look beyond the death and question the pain inflicted on themothers who kissed their sons goodbye as they went to defend theircountry.
